The vision of Developwise CIC is no one in poverty.
Poverty for us is lack mentally, relationally, physically, financially and socially.
Our definition of lack is an absence or inadequate amount of something needed. We know that all of this areas are interlinked but for the purpose of our vision statement we have categorised the following aspects of poverty:
Mental poverty is a person who is unable to thrive amongst the normal pressure of life as a result of not having emotional intelligence resilience, critical thinking and practical strategies. Our aim is to facilitate individuals to develop mental-Wealth. Mental wealth is thriving in those areas.
Relational lack Wellbeing wise to us is a person not being able to build or effectively manage healthy relationships i.e. family, work, business and social relationships. Anyone can experience relational poverty, especially as our world focuses more on digital communication and less on personal communication. Our aim is to creatively educate and facilitate people building healthy relationships in community.
Physical poverty for us is a person not being in good health physically. This might be due to financial constraints, health inequality in the system, lack of knowledge of good health practises and resources. This includes lack of knowledge or ability to create affordable, healthy and balance diets.
Financial poverty for us is a person not being able to meet their essential needs. Financial poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter. However, poverty is more, much more than just not having enough money. This might due to lack of highly sought after skills sets, resources, discrimination and economic marginalisation.
Social lack for us is a person not being part of a good community. This is the definition we found on www.compassion.com that we agree with. It states “Social poverty includes people groups that are undervalued and have few rights. Oftentimes, social poverty is easiest to spot when we look for people who have been silenced—they have no say and their rights are minimized. They are often oppressed and thought of as insignificant.” We also believe that this can happen on an individual basis. This is when a person is socially isolated, which is more than monetary and can not be address through one’s current relational resources (sourced from https://journals.sagepub.com/).
Our vision is that no one will be in poverty in any area.
